Trendlove #13: Berets

Hi lovelies,

it is this year´s first time for the Trendlove series with the topic berets.
Well, do you now what a beret is?
It is a soft, flat hat which became popular in the 19th century in Central Europe. Nowadays berets are worn mainly for fashion as a great way to add a little retro glamour to an outfit. Most people also connect berets with french people carrying their baguettes or with military personnel.
There are several ways to wear one so I show you some of them:

So this is a pretty classic style you see often and not only in japan. The beret covers the back of one´s head, ears canbe seen but it is not a must.

I call this the 'french way' to wear a beret because the french do it like that :D This style is as popular as the one above and I think you can wear it with every style you want. You can combine it simple and elegant but also cute or cool.

It is uncommon that you also see  men wearing a beret. I guess this is just the case in some countries. But I like how styled it to match him and his outfit. He really shows that a beret is not 'women´s wear'.

You find your unicoloured beret is boring?
There are some ways to pimp them for your style!
As you can see this girl has some horns on it and some patches to spice it up.

It is also possible to knit yourself a beret! Or at least you can make the pompom yourself ;D That´s really easy to do :)

This is a fuzzy and cuddly beret! Kumamiki, the designer of Party Baby shows us how to have another possibility to wear a beret. The beret is pulled more to the left ear. So you can do your hair in braids, curls or anything funky and put your beret on like that you look awesome like her :3

Berets are also popular in Lolita fashion as it is a style of J-fashion. This has a typical shape but is decorated with pearls, little bows and a wing shaped embellishment.

As you can see there are also some altered shapes of a beret. These models above have some ties to fix them.

What I do not like about them: Acutally it is a hat which does neither covers the whole head nor covers the ears. A beret is a hat which has not the functions of a hat but is a great accessory.

My opinion is berets are suitable for every style of fashion. I can imagine wearing a beret with every fashion style which exists!
